Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
This is a great short passage. It was one of my very first memory verses and I can see why. At the heart of it is three things.
1. Trust God – it asks us to trust God with all of our hearts. We can do this because He is a good God who cares for us, wants what is best and He holds the world in His hands.
2. Lean on His understanding – as humans we always try to work things out ourselves. I know I do. But God wants us to lean on His understanding and wisdom. It makes sense because He knows the beginning and the end of all things.
3. Seek God’s will – seek first God’s Kingdom and God’s will is a major theme throughout the Bible. God has created us for a time such as this. Let us seek Him for what that is.
God wants us to trust Him, to put Him first and seek Him in all we do. When we do this we will receive His guidance and direction.
Lord help me to trust in You. I pray that I will seek Your guidance and lean on Your understanding in all I do. I thank You that Your Word says that when I do this, You will make my paths straight. Amen.
