Protection and comfort

Psalm 23:1-4 NLT[1] The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. [2] He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. [3] He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. [4] Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

God promises to be with us always. He says He will protect and comfort us. If we think about protection it is like God surrounding to keep us safe from harm. Comfort is when we feel bad and we need help to feel better. I like the imagery of God leading us by still waters. It is both a safe place and a comfortable place to be.

Dear God, thank You that I am both protected and comforted by You. Thank You also that You lead me by still waters that restore my soul. Amen.
