Worry robs us

Matthew 6:25-26 NLT – “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

Worry is a bad habit. It effects our whole life and our relationship with God. Here are four things worry does…

  1. Worry robs us of enjoying today by making us be fearful for the future.
  2. Worry takes our eyes of our eternal God on to our problems.
  3. Worry makes God a liar as we do not trust His provision and protection.
  4. Worry takes up brain space from solving today’s problems.

As I once heard it said, “Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but you don’t get far”.

Let us purpose in our hearts to trust God with today and our tomorrows. He is in control. He holds our future. He is our eternal God who loves and cares for us.
