Follow the blessing trail

Recently I was reading Numbers 6:24-26. This is the Priestly blessing that many ministers say at the end of a church service. It says…

“‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’” Numbers‬ ‭6:24-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At the bottom of that my Bible had a reference to another blessing in Dueteronomy 28.

“Your towns and your fields will be blessed. Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed. Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:3-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This then took me to another blessing in Psalms 121.

“I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” Psalms‬ ‭121:1-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

These blessings are just three of dozens in the Bible. They promise protection, help, provision, favour, blessing and God’s favour both now and forever.

It is a good exercise to follow the blessing trails in the Bible. God loves us and He is for us. He is on our side. Passages like these help to remind us.

Follow the trails and be blessed,

Dave
