Easter is a great time to stop and think about life – where we are at and where we are going.
Thirty years ago at Easter I explored the true meaning of Easter. I went to church with some friends and heard about Christ.
Over the coming months I explored the claims of the Bible and learned what the Easter message was all about.
I learned that at Easter Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for my sin on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday He rose to life.
Jesus conquered sin and death and He offered me a new life in Him as a result. In July of 1989 I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Saviour.
I found true and lasting peace with God. That day changed my life forever.
If you would like to find peace with God, you can visit this page on my website – Peace with God.
Several years ago I took a group of teens through my discipleship booklet. In the first lesson I quoted Colossians 2:6-7 and used it as a foundation for our studies.
I explained to them the importance of building a firm foundation for our lives in Christ. I am excited to say the message and the discipleship booklet studies we did really sunk in and deep roots were formed.

I have added a new Bible reading plan to my main website today. It is called, “The Essential Jesus”. It contains 100 Bible readings from both the Old and New Testaments.

November 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of PASSION Australia. It some ways it seems to have flown by, and it other ways it seems forever.
I can still remember being in a period of personal revival. My prayer times had been increasing and my love for the Lord was going up and up. I just loved worshipping and serving Him.
It was during a time of prayer that I asked for a ministry that would reach people for Christ. At the time I have been helping with my church youth group and preaching in church, but I felt like God had more for me, so I asked.
One morning God answered my prayer and He started to speak to me about a ministry which would reach people for Christ and help Christians share their faith. PASSION Australia was born.
At first I just got the vision, then I asked for a name. God said, “PASSION Australia”. Then I asked if the letters could stand for something. He said, “Preaching And Saving Souls In Our Nation”.
Over the years PASSION has been about reaching people for Christ and many people have come to Christ as a result of our outreach work. We have also helped many Christians share their faith and encourage them on their journey of faith and life in Christ through churches and through this website.
To date we have had millions of visitors to our website and our resources had been downloaded tens of thousands of times. Our discipleship booklet is biggest download and has been translated into a number of languages. Some churches use it as their primary discipleship tool for brand new Christians.
So where to from now? Well that is the topic of a lot of prayer at the moment. I am expecting it to continue. But as always, God is the one who has the first and last say on everything we do.
I just wanted to share a discipleship Bible study booklet I wrote a few years ago. I wrote this because in my ministry work a lot of people were coming to Christ and I wanted to give them a good foundation to begin on.
This simple booklet was designed to take people through one on one or in a small group. It has 10 studies using Bible verses that look at assurance of salvation, the Bible, prayer, church, serving God, sharing your faith, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and what God wants you to do with your life.
I have taken indiduals through it, small groups and preached it in church as a series. Although a lot of people have downloaded it from my website and used it alone, it works best when you can take people through and answer questions they may have.
If you are interested you can find it here for free.
If you are interested in reading the New Testament this year, you can download our free reading checklist. It has a daily reading you can tick off as you go. It is in Bible order and you have weekends off or for catch up.
If you are interested you can find it here.
I have added a new sermon (text only) to my main website today. It is called, “Living as children of light” and is based on Ephesians 4:17-32.
You can find it here – http://www.passionaustralia.org/childrenoflight.html
I have added a new Podcast titled, “A Warning about self confidence“. It is taken from James 4:13-17. You can find it on our audio page or you can listen below.
I have updated our Bible readings page again. I have added in some more two week Bible readings plans. There is now 9 in total.
They include links to the passages in an online Bible. You can bookmark the page and return each day to do the readings.
You can find them here.
Over the last couple of months I have shared blog posts of my morning devotional readings of the Bible.
This is what I do when I first get up in the morning. I sit in my favourite comfy chair with a coffee, open my Bible app on my iPad and prayerfully read a passage.
I usually pray and ask God which book of the Bible I should read, then I read the whole book one section heading at a time. It usually takes about two weeks to read a small book.
After I read the passage I sit back and look for some things that jumped out at me. Usually a verse or a few verses speak to me. So I think about them for a while in the context of the section heading.
Some questions I also ask are –
– what was going on at the time of writing?
– what was the author trying to say to the people?
– what did they want them to do or not do?
– how am I going with this idea or thought?
– what can I apply to my life from this passage?
As I sit and ponder I am open to the Holy Spirit to speak to me and I also try to think if there is anything I can remember from prior reading or study on this passage.
My ultimate goals in my morning devotions is to connect with God by reading His Word and to start my day off by focussing on Him and His Kingdom. I also want to apply God’s Word to my daily life.
